
Aims and objectives
Cockenzie and Port Seton RBL Pipes and Drums is a non competing band,
dedicated to maintaining the highest possible standards of musical and visual presentation
in order to promote and enhance the public image of the RBL. The band shall demonstrate
their commitment and pride within the local communities by providing musical support
for important events such as Remembrance Parades, Standard Dedications and community
and charity event.
The band welcomes beginners and experienced players. With the aim to develop the
musical and other relevant skills of all members by encouraging individuals to reach their
full potential within the band.
The band is currently under musical direction of Pipe Major Roderick Paton and chanter
tuition is provided by John McCarlie (East Lothian Pipes and Drums Trust) Mr James King Mrs Lynne Paton.
Drum tuition is provided by Mr Dave Henry (snare drum) and Miss Michaela Rafferty & Paul Rafferty (tenor and bass section)
General Information
The band conducts the finances on a non profit making basis, generating sufficient income
performances, and various fund raising events so as to meet all operational costs, travel
expenses for members, and make provision for future purchases, repair and replacement
of essential band equipment. The band has received a grant from Awards
For All Scotland.

The tartan chosen for the band is Ancient Baird we dedicate this in memory of the late Mr Robert Baird who served Cockenzie and Port Seton RBL as Parade Master for over thirty years.
We pledge ourselves to strive towards equal opportunities and welcome all members into the band with the hope that they too enjoy the great experiences of piping and drumming.
